St Raphael’s Community Hub Now Open!
We are delighted to announce the opening of the first St Raphael’s Community Hub at The St Nicholas Centre.
The new community hub, which can be found on the ground floor opposite Café Kiko, provides a tranquil retreat for relaxation and well-being, featuring a beautiful memory tree and garden, donation points, comfort zones and a cinema area.
The space will not only be used to raise awareness of the important service the hospice provides for local people and their families but will also give shoppers a chance to make donations and attend fundraising events.
The hospice needs around £6m each year to run and, out of that amount, £4m must be raised by the hospice itself, which is why it is vital that everyone gives whatever support they can. The community hub will make it easy for people to do that, by donating clothes, books and toys or even signing up for the Hospice Lottery.
The St Nicholas team worked tirelessly for two weeks to build the Community Hub, bringing vibrancy to an otherwise vacant space, and it couldn’t have been for a better cause.
Gavin Waller, Centre Director at St Nicholas commented “We hope the partnership will be instrumental in raising awareness and supporting the fundraising goals for the hospice, that, with the support from the local community, have helped thousands of families across the country with their incredible work.
We’re really proud to partner with St Raphael’s and to have had the opportunity to facilitate this initiative.”
The Community Hub will be open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm and offer a varied event programme which will be run by St Raphael’s volunteers, with all shoppers invited to pop in on a regular basis.
Details on the event programme will be announced shortly.
