Chanel Hyseni Wins Mascot Design Competition!
Chanel Hyseni from Robin Hood Junior School has been announced as the winner of a competition to design the St Nicholas Shopping Centre a new mascot.
The Shopping Centre invited youngsters from Robin Hood Junior School back in the Spring to enter the competition, and Year 5 rose to the challenge. Over 80 entries were received from the year group submitting an array of characters from Dragons through to brightly coloured Jesters.
Gavin Waller, Centre Director commented ‘We were overwhelmed by the level of creativity from the year group making it a very difficult decision to pick a winner. But, Chanel’s interpretation of a Cow stood out for us and we loved the high vis jacket representing an era of change and development for the St Nicholas Centre. We can’t wait to see her design come to life and meet the youngsters of Sutton.’
The Centre Management team attended a school assembly during the last week of term to announce Chanel as the winner and awarded her with her prize, but to also give special recognition to Owen Scott and Tilly Bracken for their outstanding entries, who received a £25 St Nicholas Gift Card each.
Chanel commented ‘When I found out that I had won the competition, I was so shocked but very happy. I decided to design a cow as my mascot, as it is my favourite animal. I worked very hard to design and create my mascot, but had no idea that I would actually win!’
The mascot will be revealed during the Shopping Centre’s summer event programme, meeting Chanel for the first time and of course meeting all the youngsters of Sutton.
